We now have two dehumidifiers running in our apartment pretty much full time, so I'm able to compare this one with the other (a Maeco 20L which is currently on Amazon for £5 more, so very comparable).Firstly, the positives of the De'Longhi:It's good and compact, nice and narrow although I'm not sure how much this really matters when you need to leave ventilation space around them anywayEffective it's undoubtedly pulling a lot of water outDecent fan power to ensure air circulation, the movable louvre also helpsIonisor function (though not that bothered about this personally)Pipe run off so you can drain it rather than keep emptying it outLightweight for something of this capacity.Unfortunately, although very good it's not quite perfect compared to the Maeco:The drain outlet is from a little plug on the bottom of the water tank, the pipe supplied is short and doesn't really fit properly, which is annoying. Also there's a little stopper that goes over the outlet that is bound to get lost, there's nowhere on the machine to store it, and if you lose it then you can no longer use the water tank because it will just drain all over the floor. In comparison the Maeco is much more cleverly designed, the pipe outlet simply bypasses the water tank, so no stoppers required and nothing to lose. The tank is very small for a dehumidifier of this capacity, if you don't connect the drain hose you'll be emptying this a lot!The De'Longhi is also quite loud, partly because of the movable louvre which is a nice option to have, but it's actually noisier than the Maeco which is actually a higher capacity. In summary then - it's good, but could be better.

I live in a great flat BUT drying clothes in the winter is a nightmare..... it can take 48hrs to dry t-shirts 🙁 a friend told me about using a dehumidifier also thoughtbI would give it a go - I can NOT live without one now!!! I put it on turbo clothes dry overnight and BOOM! The clothes are dry by morning!!!! It is now easier to dry my 6yr old school uniform, mine and my girlfriends clothes without precision planning!!!!! A plus side also is that it makes the place smell amazing with the conditioner in the air AND the clothes feel like they are line dried.... lovely & soft!!!!! A little louder than I thought it would be but as it runs in the hall/front room it has never been a problem!!!! Overall excellent - highly recommended!!!

I converted my brick shed to a music room, but was having problems with damp. I bought a hygrometer which was registering relative humidity mostly around the 75% mark, peaking as high as 92%. Obviously a worry with some relatively expensive equipment in the room.I had a cheap little jug-kettle-sized dehumidifier in there which didn't seem to be making any diffeerence. After just 3 hours of running the De'longhi, the RH was down to around 40%. Although I have to say that after reading the instructions, I did combine it with a space heter keeping the temp around 70F (something I hadn't been doing before). Maybe it was a combination of the two, but it's working, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.By the way, describing this unit as "whisper quiet" is cobblers. It's no quieter than any fan-based space heater. Don't know how they get away with such a patent untruth.*** Update ***Been using this for nearly a year now and it's still doing its job well. Haven't had to use the space heater once it got to spring, and the dehumidifier hasn't had to do much at all to keep the humidity down. During the summer months it only stayed on for a few minutes then switched off (auto mode). But it's certainly working. The hygrometer says so, and so does the tray of salt I have on a dish on a high shelf. Before I had the De'Longhi, the tray used to pool with water, now it's just dry salt all the time. If salt can't attract any water, then there can't be any collecting on my electrical stuff.

Can't recommend this dehumidifier highly enough. You won't be disappointed. Well worth the money. If I had to leave a negative it would be that the water tank is half the size than in my old model, so of course needs emptying more often, but on the plus side this water container has a cover over it so there's less chance of spilling water over the floor when you are taking it to be emptied

Great value at the moment at almost half of rrp. We bought it to put in where our dogs sleep, their giant breeds and their lungs generate a fair bit of moisture! This has worked well in keeping the room nice and fresh, with the auto cutout being a nice feature to maintain the room humidity at a set level and so saving on energy. Its 190 watt power output is also one of the lowest we could find for its capacity and ability, so all in all a good purchase. We have found occasionally the water full cut out will set off when its not yet full, but pulling the tray out then reinserting resolves. This may become an issue if wanting to leave it unattended for a while hence the four stars.

The DEX12 is one of the latest in the De’Longhi range. It offers a good picture of what you should expect when buying a high-quality model from one of best dehumidifier brands in the market.

De’Longhi being at the forefront of dehumidifier technology, the DEX12 Dehumidifier is no different. The technology in the default model is impressive enough with a 12-litre extraction rate which can remove moisture from the air in a 24-hour period in the average home. However, bear in mind the tank capacity is around 2-litres, so will need emptying often.

The DEX12 measures around 22x33x50 cm so while not the most compact it is still small enough to be unobtrusive in even smaller rooms. The DEX12 model weighs around 9 kg, so it’s easy to move around the home when needed.

For those worried about energy costs, the DEX12 has an energy rating of an A. This is impressive, as most dehumidifiers are not the most energy efficient household electrical appliances. The noise rating of this model is 37 dB which means it isn’t the quietest De’Longhi dehumidifier.

Now let’s take a look at the DEX12 features. The DEX12 uses Ariadry Multi-technology, which is designed to increase the unit’s efficiency. For example, it has clothes drying option that means it can be used for that purpose concurrently with dehumidifying a room. However, be aware that this model does not have an automatic shut-off option. Not an issue if you want to run it for long periods of time but be aware you’ll need to turn it off manually.

It also comes with a neatly designed incorporated, removable and washable air filter — perfect for the asthmatics in the family. The DEX12 is well-designed, with the control panel integrated into the unit and a handle that makes it easy to move.

The DEX12 is an excellent dehumidifier for the average home with clothes drying capacity and acknowledged benefits for asthmatics.

Having replaced a compressor type of dehumidifier, which we have had for years but recently failed, I was a little apprehensive on buying one of these. However, coupled with the same hygrometer we used previously to measure the humidity levels, this unit seems to be able to maintain a lower level than our other one which was permanently running. The compressor type was also often on a defrost cycle as it struggled with the lower temperatures we are having at the moment.I have noticed that this one can draw more electric when it is in use, but then it can cycle between being on and off more frequently and so might work out to be cheaper. But it is more effective.I do wish that it stored more water in its tray and also it does seem a little more elaborate and difficult to simply empty it over the other one we had - which was more of an open container you simply tipped down the sink. Also it is much noisier than our previous model. When the unit is on and drawing air through it the warmed air it blows out is great from helping washing to dry but also again that noise is quite distracting. Thankfully we do not have it in our living room, if we did we might have been tempted to swap it due to the noise. Also you do have to keep the unit at a distance from walls or other objects, then again we did that with our other one.Overall we are happy with the unit but again be aware tha tit isn't the quietest but it does do the job.

I'm now on my third dehumidifier of this type, the previous two lasted around 2-3 years each, but I would not want to be without this particular model as it is great for drying clothes. I have a tumble dryer but only use it for bedding and towels etc., and find this dehumidifier great for drying clothing on an indoor drying stand. The reason it is so good is the movable vent at the top of the unit which has three options to control the direction of air flow and one of them is perfect when placing the unit in front of the drying stand - the vent will move up and down the stand and you can literally see the clothing drying - much better than units that have a static vent (I tried a Meaco dehumidifier once but it was useless for drying clothes as the vent stayed in the same place). Obviously you need to rotate the clothes so they all get a spot in front of the vent action. An indoor airer full of clothes will dry in an evening with no condensation either. The water reservoir is quite small and once full the unit will automatically switch off. I have no experience of using this unit in other damp conditions but would imagine the reservoir would need frequent emptying

De’Longhi has been working long and hard at overcoming the noise problem of dehumidifiers. They have succeeded with the DNC65 dehumidifier. If you want an efficient and quiet unit for your home, then look no further.

The DNC65 unit has a noise rating of 34 dB which is rather impressive for an appliance of this type. The reason the DNC65 model is quiet is due to it not having a compressor. When compared with the 37 dB of the DEX12, one might not immediately think so. However, the decibel measurement is not linear, and 37 dB is a good deal louder than 34 dB. So the DNC65 is a significant improvement!

This model is also a compact dehumidifier as it measures just 17x29x47 cm. It is somewhat smaller than the DEX12 model and has a 2-litre tank. It will need removing and regularly emptying for the device to work as it should.

The DNC65 weighs just 6.5kg, so is very easy to move from place to place, and is compact enough to sit in a room without being noticed. It will happily remove moisture from a room of 55 cubic meters. This model also comes with a convenient shut-off feature that will switch the machine off after 8-hours, which we think is a very sensible feature for one of these.

It can be set to operate at three different levels so you can choose the amount of power you want to use and the moisture levels you need to remove. It also comes with a clothes drying feature and a separate ionizer. The latter is a requirement of some users as it ionized the air, and it also includes a bacterial filter for those looking to clean the air in their home.

If you are looking for an efficient, quiet and compact dehumidifier, then this model is worth a look.

This small dehumidifier arrived in early December. I waited a very long time to write a review because I had read many bad things about it and, to be fair, it was a little bit temperamental at the very start. The DEM10 was allowed to settle for 24 hours, as per instructions, but when first turned on, it did nothing. Hours passed and the receptacle stayed dry. We did pull the tank out to reset the switch but to no avail. By next morning I was ready to re-pack it and send it back when I read about washing the filter. The filter looked clean, but after washing and reinstalling it, the dehumidifier started working and has been doing its job perfectly ever since. We had guests coming to stay for Christmas and, as luck would have it, a roof leak caused water damage to the spare bedroom. We were forced to have a whole wall re-plastered and the room repainted in the middle of winter. This little workhorse pulled litres of water out of the room round the clock and we were able to have the room back to normal in record time. Now, we turn it on for two or three hours a day and it keeps the house interior comfortably dry and saves on heating costs, too. During the wettest winter ever, the house is condensation-free and feels warm and cosy. It is also brilliant when the washing needs to fully dry and, of course, after a shower in the bathroom.I would perhaps deduct half a star because the low-noise claim is not always accurate. It's a dull hum usually but sometimes it kicks into a louder vibrating noise that sounds like contact with the casing. Moving it slightly seems to help, and it's always a good idea to place it on a rug, but sometimes the louder noise starts after it's been on for a while. Turning it off and on again is often the answer. In balance, it's a wonderfully effective appliance that reduces humidity and fulfils its stated function. I like the neat design and small size (our previous dehumidifier was four time bigger) and how easy it is to move from one room to the other. We bought this two and a half years ago, and it's still going strong. In fact, any little teething problems have disappeared (like the Defrost Mode coming on randomly). Cleaning the filter every few months helps with the noise.

I bought this when it was one of Amazon's daily deals and was priced at £82.99. For that money it really was a very good purchase. I monitored how much water it took out of the air over the first few days and thought I'd share my findings within this review. The house I'm using it does not suffer with ridiculous amounts of moisture but in the winter the windows in the morning can be soaking wet. I wanted something similar to my eco air that I bought a few years ago. I use that in my utility where I dry clothes and it is pretty good. You need to be mindful of the claims made by this device. 10 litres a day would be a tough challenge as this is only achievable in optimum conditions. According to the instructions this is at 31 degrees with high humidity. As I live in the UK that would probably only be for 1 or 2 days of the year. So how did it perform?I only run it during the day and only for between 8 to 12 hours. In that time it can easily take 2 to 2 ½ litres out of the air. This is comparable to the eco air model that I run only this one uses half the electricity. The noise levels are acceptable. Probrably a little quieter than my older machine. I wouldn't want ton try and sleep with it running in my room.So I would happily recommend this product.

After telling friends about our brilliant dehumidifier I realised how long we've had it and decided to post this review. It is small enough not to get in the way but big enough to do the job. We use our on the landing of our 3 bed home, where we do a lot of our (family of four) laundry drying. I would much rather have the humidifier on for a few hour using only the energy of a small light bulb than spending hours tumble drying clothes and paying massive bills. On colder days it deals with the condensation on the windows easily and has prevented damp spots occurring during wet cold days.I just can't sing its praises enough, our clothes dry quickly, our home is comfortable and all at a very low running cost.I think it is very important to heed the installation advice i.e. to leave it for 24 hours to settle after delivery before you begin to use it and to never move it when it is working (and the disk is spinning) I always wait for a bit after I switched it off to reposition it.Honestly, one of the best purchases we've ever made, thoroughly recommended in our damp climate.

The DEM10 dehumidifier is another compact and portable dehumidifier that offers some impressive features.

It measures 35x33x42 cm, which is not as small as the DNC65 model but is still compact enough to move around with ease. The DEM10 weighs 10kg, which is one of the heavier than the DEM10 and the DEX12 models.

The DEM10 is a 190-watt model, so there are models with higher wattage in the De’Longhi range, but it is a mid-range design with performance to match. It is capable of extracting a good 10-litres of moisture from the air across a 24-hour period. Note that the reservoir – determined by the size of the machine itself – is of 2-litres, so will need emptying several times during the extraction period if used to full capacity. That is, however, nothing unusual for a dehumidifier of this size.

It comes with a handle for added portability and is neatly designed to be unobtrusive in any room. The noise level rating of this one is 38 dB, which means that it is a lot noisier than other De’Longhi dehumidifiers when in full operation. This model comes with a fully adjustable humidistat, which is capable of selecting the humidity level you want in the room.

You may also appreciate the electronic anti-freeze function, which keeps it running at temperatures of as low as 2c, which we think is another interesting feature that may come in handy when used in the winter months.

Like many models in the De’Longhi range, this one does come with a permanent drain kit. The drain kit enables you to drain the water off to a convenient point, rather than being collected in the small tank, so you don’t have to keep emptying the machine. However, it does require a drain to take the water, so be aware of this if you want to use this feature.

The DEM10 dehumidifier is an excellent model if you want to extract large amounts of moisture in freezing conditions, plus a drainage kit if you have the indoors amenity to use it.#

January 19, 2017

If there’s a pattern emerging from our reviews, it’s one of consistent quality from a reputed and established brand, and that is a good reason why the De’Longhi brand is associated with the best dehumidifiers on the market.

The DEX14 is no exception and follows the trend for the best possible efficiency, innovation, and reliability. It’s a more compact model than some of those above – measuring 38x48x19 cm – yet has some excellent attributes that make it well worth including in our De’Longhi review.

In fact, this one stands out as it is the first to feature a water reservoir of greater than 2-litres. This one is a 3-litre capacity model, and it features a see-through tank so you can see precisely when it needs emptying, and as it will remove as much as 14-litres of moisture from a given room in a day, it will need emptying less than the smaller versions. It also comes with the optional permanent drain kit – complete with a 2-metre hose – so you can have a constant operation in which the water is drained away without the need for emptying the tank.

Now, we’ve talked before about the noise level of these machines, and how it is a defining factor – as well as one that may make the difference between a yes and no decision. As we’ve already briefly mentioned, it’s not enough to think that 40 dB – the noise output of this machine at full operation – is just a few steps louder than one at, say, 35 dB. In fact, it is considerably louder, making this otherwise impressive machine the loudest by a long way of those we have looked at so far.

Aspects we do like include the fact that this model monitors the water level in the tank, and when it reaches the full point, will stop extracting the moisture from the air. A nice feature which does away with any spillages that may occur when you forget a dehumidifier is running. It also has casters, so is easy to move around via the handle.

You get the De’Longhi anti-freeze function with the DEX14, too, and it also has the bacterial air filter that is fully washable, so it is great for asthmatics. There is no dedicated clothes drying facility.

There is a sense of modern style about the design of this one – some of the others look to have been put together for purpose rather than with any attempt at looking good, and that’s entirely understandable – and despite the larger tank it is remarkably thin and takes up very little space.

All in all, this is an excellent humidifier with a nice large tank and is fitted with castors and light enough to move around. It also comes with permanent fixtures, so if you want one for a problem area, and especially where noise is not a problem, there is no reason this should not be the choice for you.

The final one on our list of the five best De’Longhi dehumidifiers is the most capable – regarding capacity – of the lot. It’s also the most expensive, but when you have a look at the price difference between this one – at the top of the list – and the least expensive one of our five, the gap isn’t that large.

For this reason, we’re not sure that price will be a clincher when looking at a De’Longhi humidifier, as many other factors come into play to affect your decision.

So far, we have covered a good range of De’Longhi models, most of which have a 2-litre capacity water tank (one with 3-litres) and some with a permanent drain kit, so you don’t have to keep emptying them. This model, the DDS20, features a massive 4.5-litre tank, and that comes in a package that measures just 28x35x49 cm, so not considerably larger than any of the others. There is also the option of the continuous hose attachment, for which you need a handy internal drain.

If you want to use it with the reservoir, you won’t need to empty it that often. The DDS20 can remove as much as 20-litres per day, which is the most significant capacity in our list.

To remove that much moisture per day the DDS20 dehumidifier needs a massive 450 watts of power. We recommend considering this when purchasing this model, as you are going to pay more for it to run on a regular basis. However, remember this dehumidifier is suitable for larger homes (5+ bedrooms) rather than small ones.

The DDS20 measures 15 kg, but this model is not meant to be portable, so this shouldn’t be a problem if you buy it for the purpose it is intended. It does not have an ionizer – a couple of the above models do so if that is important to you check them out – and it comes with the usual 2-year De’Longhi warranty.

There is a lot to recommend this particular dehumidifier for family use. Although there is no dedicated clothes drying system it does have the anti-bacterial filter so is great for asthmatics. However, here is the downside, and it’s one you may have guessed. This is a 450-watt machine, and it may come as no surprise that noise output is no less than 50 dB.

Bearing in mind what we said before – and that the previous loudest was 40 dB – this one is quite clearly going to be a lot louder, so you might want to bear that in mind. As the model is so loud, the DDS20 is not suitable for use in a small flat or house. If you want a machine for a bigger house and have a permanent position where the sound will not affect anyone, then there is no reason this cannot be the best choice.

The DDS20 De’Longhi dehumidifier is an excellent choice for those with larger houses, and a need to remove a lot of moisture from the air efficiently. Just be aware that this model is not designed to be used to dehumidify a flat or small home.

To Conclude

There is one clear factor that came to light when we began looking at dehumidifiers: buy a De’Longhi. We focused on the market-leading brand because it is not often you see one name that is streets ahead of the rest – De’Longhi is, so you have five of their products to choose from (and there are many more besides).

Which one should you choose? If you have a large house and family, then look no further than the DDS20. We can even overlook the considerable noise it makes as the chances are you will be putting it somewhere out of the way. It is very capable, has excellent extraction capability, and comes with a large water tank and the permanent drain facility. It may be the most expensive, but not by much, and there is no other on the list to match it for performance.

If you are going to use your dehumidifier for drying clothes, then take a close look at the DEX12, the first on our list. It is compact, has decent extraction capability, is energy efficient and relatively quiet, and has a dedicated drying function, at a very sensible price.

For a simple, occasional use dehumidifier to make sure you have healthy air, keep mold at bay and don’t get excess humidity, the other three all have their attributes, so it is down to personal choice, and how much extraction capability you believe you require.

We hope we have helped you understand why a De’Longhi dehumidifier is the one to go for, and given you some idea of the best purchase for your requirements.
